Dubidha

Zindegi Sidhi Kyun Nehi Hain
Yeh Sawal Itihass Ne Har Lamha Pucha Hain
Agar Sab Kuch Ek Hi Hisaab Se Chalta
Toh Kitna Aacha Hota
Yeh Dubidha Hume Hamesha
Kashmakash Mein Kyun Daal Deti Hain ?

Tumne Kavi Hire Ko Dekha Hain
Koyle Ki Khhan Se Nikalte Hue ?
Uss Ki Badan Mein Tab Shayed
Kali Kali Si Ek Maila Chadar Ghire Rahete Hain
Usse Pata Nehi Hota Hain
Ke Uss Ke Saath Kya Hone Wala Hain

Phir Usse Hum Log Utha Le Aate Hain
Zohri Usse Bahut Bariki Se Tarash Te Hain
Uss Ke Badan Mein Chamak Aati Hain
Usse Kured Kured Ke Ek Aakar Diya Jata Hain
Phir Woh Chali Jati Hain Kisi Aamir Ke Ghar
Kisi Insan Ki Badan Ki Shobha Barhane Ke Liyeh
Lekin Kuch Dino Ke Baad Insaan Uss Ki Chamak Se
Dhire Dhire Ubb Ne Lagte Hain Aur Kisi Aur Pathar Ki Taraf
Uss Ki Mann Bahek Ne Lagti Hain Aur Woh Hira
Kisi Khubsurat Pitare Ki Andhere Mein Gum Ho Jati Hain
Tab Woh Ek Show Piece Ban Jati Hain
Uss Aamir Ki Ghar Ke Shobha Barha Ne Ke Liyeh

Lekin Kavi Gaur Se Dekhna
Zohri  Jab Hire Ko Tarash Ti Hain
Toh Uss Ki Badan Se Kuch Chhote Chhote Tukre
Idhar Udhar Bikhar Ke Pare Rahete Hain
Unn Tukron Ko Bazar Mein
Pani Ke Dam Pe Becha Jata Hain
Kuch Kanch Ke Karigar Usse Kharid Lete Hain
Aur Apni Chaku Ke Nokh Par
Unn Tukron Ko Lagake Woh Kanch Ke
Bikhre Hue Hisson Ko Kat Kar  Sahi Aakar Dete Hain

Tum Jo Apni Chehre Ko
Roz Ek Aaine Mein Dekhti Ho
Woh Aaina Shayed Aisi Hi Kisi Hire Ki Madad Se
Uss Ki Chuan Se Apna Ek Alag Pahechan Banayi Hain
Woh Tumhe Apni Pith Par Kali Poch Ke Bawajud
Apni Samne Ki Ujale Se
Tumhari Surat Ki Sacchi Pahechan Karwati Hain

Main Hoon Woh Aaina Jiski Badan Mein
Aate Jate Uthte Baith Te Duniya
Kali Pochne Ki Koshish Karti Hain
Tab Main Bhagti Hoon Khudah Ki Dar Pe
Jahan Woh Mujhe Phir Se Hatheli-e-Almas
Ki Chuan Se Phir Se Ek Nayi Roop Deti Hain
Aur Tum Ho Woh Hira Jisse Main Pitare Mein
Bandh Hote Nehi Dekh Sakti Issiliyeh
Kavi Kavi Apni Sacchai Ki Dhar Se Tumhe Tarash Ne Ki
Koshish Kar Ti Hoon Aur Yeh Toh Tum Janti Ho
Bina Kharoch Ke Hira Chamkti Nehi
Aur Hira Agar Na Tarshe Toh Kanch Ko Kategi Kaise ?

Hira Hatheli Ki Shobha Zarur Barhati Hain
Lekin Usse Agar Zaban Pe Rakkho Toh Woh
Zaher Ban Jati Hain Aur Agar Usse Chaku Ke
Nokh Pe Rakkho Toh Woh Karigar Ke Faan Mein
Aur Usski Jadu-e-Nakshe Ke Hunar Se
Aaine Ko Nayi Roop Milti Hain
Kyun Ki Kanch Hire Ko Nehi Kat Sakta
Lekin Hira Kanch Ko Kat Sakta Hain
Issiliyeh Aaine Ko Hire Ki Zarurat Hain

City of Temple Bishnupur :)

Rasmancha

The oldest brick temple in Bishnupur, Rasmancha has unique structure and is the only temple of its kind in India. Built by Malla King Bir Hambir in 1600 CE, the temple has only one chamber, the sanctum sanctorum, with an elongated tower encircled by turrets which are of hut shapes. It is enclosed by a passageway and there are some big cannons which date back to Malla period.

During the festival of Vaishnava Ras, all the idols of Radha Krishna of Bishnupur region used to be bought here to be worshipped by the people. The festival is no longer held now; it was held till 1932 and then stopped. Moreover, Rasmancha is no longer a temple today; it is a protected monument now.

Jorebangla Temple

Built by Malla King Raghunath Singh during 1655 AD, this temple is one of the tourist places in Bishnupur town. The temple has an appearance of two thatched huts joined together and surmounted by a single tower. The temple’s roofs and walls have classical Chala style of architecture and the terracotta works on the walls are simply magnificent.

A plenty of terracotta panels are set on the walls and rooms of the temple and some carved designs on the temple displays the Royal lifestyles, stories depicting the epics and historical scenes. This ancient structure built using laterite bricks is a worth visiting site in Bishnupur town.

Madan Mohan Temple

This eka-ratna temple was built by Malla King Durjana Singh Dev in late 17th century. Considered to be one of the oldest temples in Bishnupur, it has a square flat roof with curved cornices and a pinnacle over the top. Stories of the Ramayana, Mahabharata and the Puranas can be depicted from the wonderfully carved walls of the temple.

DALMADAL CANON
After downfall of the Malla dynasty the royal cannon was carelessly half-buried under the red soil of Bishnupur. But the legend who bears the dormant history of wars in Bengal, established itself over the surface again by the help of the British rulers in 1919. Dalmadal, the great royal cannon and historical proof of Bishnupur is still standing firmly with all its glorious personality and confidence.

According to history Maharaja Bir Humbeer spent One lack & Twenty Five Thousand Rupees to manufacture this devastating weapon to protect his kingdom. In Bengali language ‘Dala’ means ‘Group’ which indicates ‘Enemies’ here and ‘Mardan’ means ‘Destroy’. So it’s easy to understand that the name itself signifies the purpose and activities of the gigantic royal piece of iron. Some people say Dalmadal is a combined shape of two individual cannon Dal & Madal. Generally the Bramhins of Bishnupur believes that there were many famous religious hailstones under the territory of Malla kingdom and one of them was Dalmadal stone which was former traditional God of Jagannath Karmakar the reputed artisan & creator of the cannon, who named that weapon as a salute. He surprisingly soldered 63 plate of irons and shaped that weapon. It was not so easy to get pure iron from raw mineral-iron at that period which was probably around 1600 AD. Associates of History say that only charcoals were used to burn and melt iron at that time. Elephants and big wheels were used to carry that cannon into the battlefield.

According to famous myth inhabitants of Bishnupur believes that Lord Madanmohan fired that weapon with his own hand to protect His city from the inroads of Maratha dacoits or Borgies. So the local people respects the cannon which was touched and blessed by Lord Madanmohan. Madanmohan is the local name of Lord Krishna.

MA CHINNAMASTA MANDIR

The third Mahavidya is Chinnamasta. Listen to the story of Her origin from the Pancharatna Grantha.

Once Parvati went with Her friends Dakini and Varnini to take a bath in the Mandakini River. Parvati was feeling very happy and a lot of love was welling up inside Her. Her complexion darkened and the feeling of love completely took over. Her friends on the other hand were hungry and asked Parvati to give them some food. Parvati requested them to wait and said that She would feed them after a while, and began walking.

After a short while, Her friends once again appealed to Her, telling Her that She was the Mother of the Universe and they Her children, and asked to be fed quickly. Parvati replied that they should wait until they got home. Her friends could not wait any longer and demanded that their hunger be satisfied immediately. The compassionate Parvati laughed and with her finger nail cut Her own head. Immediately the blood spurted in three directions. Her two friends drank the blood from two of the directions and the Goddess herself drank the blood from the third direction. Since she cut Her own head, she is known as Chinnamasta.

Chinnamasta shines like a lightning bolt from the Sun. She demonstrates the rare courage needed to make the highest conceivable sacrifice. May we imbue that very same courage from that daring Goddess!
IN THE TEMPLE OF MA CHINNAMASTA MANDIR I HAVE PERFORMED A SPECIAL PUJA FOR YOU. :D THIS GODDESS IS BELIEVED SO COMPASSIONATE TO HER DEVOTEE'S THAT NO ONE RETURN BACK WITHOUT GET HER DIVINE HAND OF BOON , TO VISIT THIS TEMPLE IS SIMPLY A BLISS !!!    :D

Tom On The Top !!! :)

"When I say I climbed Everest what I really mean is … my team climbed Mount Everest."

Tom Whittaker rocked conventional wisdom when, as an amputee, he created a world first by becoming the first person with a disability to climb Mount Everest. Now he is aiming for a new world record; to become the first amputee to conquer the highest peak on each of seven continents.

Tom Whittaker, a world-class mountaineer, has pitted himself against the North Face of the Matterhorn in winter, Mt. McKinley, and the nose of El Capitan in Yosemite Valley. On Thanksgiving Day of 1979, a car accident shattered both his legs. Emergency surgery saved his life but required the removal of his right kneecap - and the amputation of his right foot. Tom Whittaker’s life had changed forever but his adventures had just begun. Nineteen years later, Whittaker made history and stunned the world when he became the first ‘disabled’ climber ever to conquer Mount Everest.

This was his third attempt on that mountain. In 1995 he came within 1,500 feet of the summit before being beaten back. On returning to base camp, teammate Greg Child gave Tom a stone saying “I picked this up on the summit and I want you to put it back where I got it from”. The gauntlet was cast.

Three years later, after overcoming a lung infection, and medical opposition, Tom’s perseverance and determination paid off. On May 27th, 1998, Whittaker made a footprint on Everest and climbing history by stepping onto the 'Roof of the World'. He returned the stone, he redefined the possible, but more than anything his achievement stands as a beacon to all who aspire to take a dream and turn it into something great.

All this was captured in CBS’s documentary film, "Footprint on Everest", which won the Teddy (Roosevelt) Award for best adventure documentary. The film was re-tooled for “48 Hours" with Dan Rather as “Against All Odds.”

Tom Whittaker’s experiences have taken him on a remarkable journey of adventure and self-discovery. He proved to the world – and himself – that the mind is more powerful than the body. He has battled to raise awareness of diversity and the real abilities of people with disabilities. Tom is convinced that the best way for people, no matter who they are, to achieve their destinies is through well defined values, self knowledge, clear goals and the ambition and drive to make it happen. Whittaker’s wining formula has worked for him and his teams in the most extreme environments on Earth. Of this you can be absolutely certain; it will work for your people - Guaranteed!

An interactive curriculum 5th through 12th grades was subscribed to by 760 schools in the U. S. and Canada. Another million hits were logged on web sites that were maintained during the expedition.

Environmental Initiative

Tom Whittaker’s expedition retrieved more than 1,000lbs of garbage from the high camps and recycled it to the highest standards. They also retrieved 89 oxygen Cylinders that were shipped back to the US and sold to cover the cost of the initiative.

The King of Word-- EDWARD :D

The only British sovereign to abdicate voluntarily, Edward stepped down in 1936 to marry the American divorcee Wallis Simpson. He was king for less than a year.

Edward was born on 23 June 1894 in Richmond, Surrey, the eldest child of the duke of York. He was always known in his family as David, one of many middle names. In 1910, Edward's father became George V and Edward, prince of Wales. He joined the Grenadier Guards in World War One, although he was not allowed to see active service. Throughout the 1920s, Edward undertook extensive foreign tours particularly in the empire, representing his father. These tours, together with Edward's visits to areas of high unemployment and deprivation in Britain during the economic depression of the early 1930s, made Edward very popular.
Edward had affairs with a number of married women in the 1920s, but then met and fell in love with Wallis Simpson, the wife of an American businessman. In January 1936, George V died and Edward became king. In October, Wallis Simpson was granted a divorce from her husband, and it became clear that the new king wished to marry her, against the advice of many of his advisors who did not believe that Edward, as head of the Church of England, should marry a divorced woman. All attempts to find a solution failed and so, on 10 December, Edward signed an instrument of abdication. The following day, after broadcasting to the nation and the empire to explain his actions, he left for Europe. Edward's brother became George VI.
In June 1937, Edward married Wallis Simpson and the couple were given the titles of duke and duchess of Windsor. For the next two years they lived mainly in France. On a visit to Germany in 1937, they had a controversial meeting with Adolf Hitler. After the outbreak of war, Edward was appointed governor of the Bahamas. He remained in this post until the end of the war, when he and the duchess returned to France.
In the remaining years of his life, the duke paid only short visits to England to attend the funerals of family members, and there continued to be much bitterness between the duke and his family. Edward died of throat cancer on 28 May 1972 in Paris, and was buried near Windsor.

Khalwat

 Khuss Hona Chahti Hoon
Lekin Bina Tumhare Khussi Kaha Hain ?
Muskurahat Yun Toh Har Din
Surat Pe Latakti Raheti Hain
Bina Tumhare Yeh Dil Khol Ke Hassi Kaha Hain ?

Sharab Toh Pite Hain
Behosh Hone Ke Liyeh Aksar
Lekin Bina Piye Ashq-e-Ulfat
Jalte Hue Dil Ki Agan Bujhti Nehi
Agar Agan Bhi Bhuj Jaye Toh
Jo Rahe Jati Hain Pyass-e-Khalwat
Bina Piye Tumhare Aakhon Ke Sagar Ke
Dard -e-Tanhai Ke Aaram Kahin Aur Sujhti Nehi

Yun Hi Nehi Khamosh Raheti Hoon Main
Kaise Guzarte Hain Pal Ek Ek Din Ki Kya Kahu
Jaise Nange Pair Chalti Hoon Angaroon Mein
Tapti Hoon Khud Ki Hi Maan Ki
Agan Mein Mira Ke Jaise
Aur Tum Dikhai Dete Ho
Sehraa Mein Chasmein Sharab Ki Tarha
Aur Main Ek Boond Tumhare
Barsat-e-Chahat Ke Liyeh
Banke Musafir Bhari Dopaher Bhatak Ta Phiru

Mushkil Hain Bahut Mushkil Hain
Jinah Iss Haal Mein
Lekin Main Vi Janti Hoon Ke
Tum Ho Meri Intezaar Mein
Aur Kuch Na Mile Inn
Kora Kora Raat Ki Karbat Mein Sanam
Ab Janti Hu Main Yeh Itminan Se
Ke  Manzil-e-Mohabbat
Kisi Anjam Ke Mohtaj Nehi
Yeh Toh Safar Hain
Hum Dono Ki Paaidar (Eternal) Ke
Tum Jab Tak Na Milo
Mujhe Hamesha Ke Liyeh
Main Chahat Mein Tumhare Phiru Jogiyon Ki Tarha
Jaise Kavi Kishan Ne Jiya Tha Tanhai Mein
Nivane Rasmein Judai Radha Ki Pyar Ke Liyeh

Poush Pithey !!! :D

Makar Sankranti is one of the most auspicious occasions for the Hindus, and is celebrated in almost all parts of the country in myriad cultural forms, with great devotion, fervour and gaiety. It is a harvest festival. Makar Sankranti is perhaps the only Indian festival whose date always falls on the same day every year on. the 14th of January (with just a few exceptions when it is celebrated either on 13th or 15th of January)

Makar Sankranti is the day when the glorious Sun-God begins its ascendancy and entry into the Northern Hemisphere and thus it signifies an event wherein the Sun-God seems to remind their children that 'Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya'- may you go higher & higher, to more & more Light and never to Darkness.

To Hindus, the Sun stands for knowledge, spiritual light and wisdom. Makar Sankranti signifies that we should turn away from the darkness of delusion in which we live, and begin to enjoy a new life with bright light within us to shine brighter and brighter. We should gradually begin to grow in purity, wisdom, and knowledge, even as the Sun does from the Day of Makar Sankranti.

In West Bengal, Sankranti, also known as Poush Sankranti named after the Bengali month in which it falls, is celebrated as a harvest festival Poush Parbon . It always falls on 14 January on the English calendar. The freshly harvested paddy along with the date palm syrup in the form of Khejurer Gur and Patali  is used in the preparation of a variety of traditional Bengali sweets made with rice flour, coconut, milk and 'khejurer gur' (palm jaggery) and known as Pithey . All sections of society participate in a three-day begins on the day before Sankranti and ends on the day after. The Goddess Lakshmi is usually worshipped on the day of Sankranti. In the Himalayan regions of Darjeeling, the festival is known as Magey Sakrati. It is distinctly associated with the worship of Lord Shiva. Traditionally, people were required to take a bath before sunrise and then commence their pooja. The food that is consumed consists primarily of sweet potatoes and various yams.
Millions of people take a dip in places like Ganga Sagar (the point where the river Ganges meets the Bay of Bengal). Ganga Sagar falls in West Bengal.

3.  Gokul Pithey

Make the Stuffing

Grated Coconut(I used frozen pack) ~ 2 cups
Khoya ~ 12oz almost 2 cups. Note: Ideally home made khoya/kheer is best but store bought khoya works fine.
Sugar ~ 1 cup

Heat a Kadhai.

Add coconut and sugar and lower the heat.

Mix the grated coconut with the sugar slightly pressing with your fingers till sugar melts and mixes with the coconut. Note: You can add add some cardamom powder. I didn't.
Now add the Khoya. Keep stirring till mixture becomes light brown and sticky. It should easily come off from the sides by now. At this point take a little of the mix and see if you can fashion a flat disc out of it. If it is too sticky you may have to cook a bit more, else you are good.
Take a little of the mix, roll a small ball between your palms and then flatten between your palms to make a disc about 1" in diameter and thickness of a 1 Rupee coin. Make equal sized discs. I made about 30.
Make the Batter

In a wide mouthed bowl add
2 Cups of AP Flour
1 tsp of Ghee
1/4 tsp of Baking Soda
Mix lightly

Now add 1 cup of Whole Milk + 1 Cup of water. Mix scraping the sides to form a batter. You will need about 1 more cup of water but add this gradually till you get a batter thick enough like a pakodi batter.
To the batter I added a generous pinch of saffron
Make the Syrup
Bring 3 cups of water 4&1/2 cups of sugar
to boil till you get a syrup of one string consistency
Add a
few drops of Kewra or Rose water to the syrup to get a sweet smell

Frying

Heat enough oil for deep frying in a skillet.

Dip the discs in the batter so that they are well coated. Now fry them in the hot oil like a fritter. Remove with a slotted spoon when both sides are golden brown. Dunk in the syrup and remove when they become little soft.

In one version of Gokul Pithe you can make the sugar syrup thicker and then coat the fried pithe with the syrup instead of soaking them in it.

Dhikane Apni Hemaqat
Tumne Har Bar Kiya Hain
Meri Cheekh Ko Dabane Ki Kosish
Na Chupa Sake Apni Badan Mein
Sadiyon Se Chupi  Janwar-e-Ranjish
Tum Mujhe Lut Te Ho
Anpi Jeben Bharne Ke Liyeh
Apni NaKamyabi Ya Bhuj Dili Ko
Zabardasti Ke Chadar Mein Dhakne Ke Liyeh

Lekin Suno Tum Aye Mere Shaitan
Tum Na Ho Insan Na Hi Ho Bhagwan
Tumhare Chaalbazi Se Na Chupi Hain Na Chupegi
Main Hoon Woh Aurat Jis Ne  Sadiyon Se
Charon Orr Failake Rakkhi Hain Apni Pahechan
Jab Jab Bhagat Shing Ya Phir Gandhi Karega
Roushan Sari Duniya Mein Apni Desh Ka Naam
Tab Tab Tum Sunoge Gunjte Hue Charon Taraf Meri Naam
Jab Jab Koi Arvind Ya Vivekanand Ya Phir Bankim
Pukarega Mujhe Jassbat Se Mohabbat Se Izzaat Se
Aur Karega Mere Naam Se Bharat Desh Ko Salam
Tab Tab Parbat Ki Shikar Se Samandar Ki Laheron Se
Regis Stan Ki Reat Se Ya Phir Maidano Ki Khusbu Se
Tumhe Milegi Meri Ann Ban Aur Shaan Ki Pahechan

Jab Koi Sachin Lagayega Shatak Jab Koi Bijendra
Marega Mukka Tumhare Muh Pe
Baandh Ke Sar Pe Mere Naam Ki Kafan
Tab Tab Tumhe Mehsus Hoga Meri Taqat-e-Zor Ki
Aur Dekho Ge Tum Apni Ghurur Ko Mitti Mein Hote Dafan
Jab Jab Koi Rabindra Ya Abdul Ya Phir Amartya
Karega Apni Gyan Ki Prakash
Aur Jalayega Apnii Desh Mein Deep
Tab Tab Tum Dhakoge Sharam Se Apna Muh
Woh Surat  Hoga Bepardah Jis Pe
Tumne Dal Ke Rakkha Hain Naqab-e-Sarif

Aur Yeh Bhi Yaad Rakhna Jab Tum Ginoge
Apni Aakhri Dino Mein Chaand Lamhon Ki Shaash
Tab Tumhe Yaad Aaungi Main Har Pal
Aur Jab Tum Banoge Chitah Ki Rakh
Yah Phir Log Dalega Mitti Tumhare Badan Mein
Tab Tum Meri Badan Pe Baheke Moksh Ko Pao Ge
Ya Phir  Apne Kabr Ke Niche Mere Hi Kokh Pe
Tum Sukun Ki Nind Sou Rahe Ho Ge

Dhun-e-Dharti

 Main Sunti Hoon
Roz Sunti Hoon
Dhune Dharti Ke Dhune
Jo Na Hain Suna Maine Kavi
Har Din Naye Saazein Ansune
Main Sunti Hoon
Roz Sunti Hoon
Dharti Ke Dhune

Main Raheti Hoon Door
Bahut Door Barfile Paharon Se
Main Raheti Door
Bahut Door Regis Stan Ki
Dewane Banzaron Ki Kafile-e-Karavano Se
Main Raheti Hoon Door
Bahut Door Kisi Benam Jangal Ki
Khusbu Se Bhari Gulistano Se
Phir Vi  Yeh Sarein Pass Hain Mere
Hamesha Inn Aakhon Ke Samne
Kisi Canvas Mein Rangi Nayi Tasbeer Ke Jaise

Kavi Kavi Bekhayali Mein
Yeh Tasbeerein Mujhse Baatein Karti Hain
Shor Mein Hazaron Ki Bheer Mein
Mujhe Bilkul Ek Anjaan Shaqs
Aur Ek Ajeeb Si Haal Mein Tanha Kar Jati Hain
Yeh Saach Hain Yah Shayad Khayal Hain
Jo Bhi Hain Yeh Meri Jineh Ki Misal Hain
Yeh Khayal Na Hoti Toh Main Kahan Hoti
Yeh Khowab Na Hota Toh Kabki Sou Gayi Hoti

Shayed Inn Tasbeeron Se
Main Door Kavi Thi Hi Nehi
Meri Hosh-e-Maahol Mujhe
Inn Tasbeeron Se Door Leke Jati Hain
Lekin Woh Dhun Na Jane Roz Kahan Se Aati Hain
Mujhe Baha Ke Le Jati Hain Chup Ke Se
Bahut Mithi Hain Woh Dhun
Thori Si Shararat Karti Hain
Rukhe Rukhe Bejan Si Panno Mein
Nazakat Ki Narmi Bharti Hain

Yun Toh Zindah Raheti Hoon
Tumhari Dum Se Saashein Bharti Hoon
Dharkan Hain Meri Dhun Hain Tumhari
Yah Khudah Tumhari Mehsus Main
Khuli Aakhon Se Aur Bhandhe Haathon Se
Har Roz Deedar-e-Khowab Mein Karti Hoon
